Unplanned announcement of the first Major
A few hours ago, the announcement of the first Major of this year, ONE Esports Singapore Major, took place, which should be organized by tournament operators PGL and One Esports. However, it seems like this announcement wasn't supposed to happen, and its active page on the oneesports.gg website was deleted.
On it, in addition to the already known dates from March 25 to April 4, it was revealed that the prize fund would be $500,000 and 2,700 DPC points, and the event itself would be in LAN format in Singapore. The best teams from the upper divisions of the Regional Leagues first season will participate in the tournament. Thus, it will be attended by:
- China region - 4 teams
- European region - 4 teams
- CIS region - 3 teams
- South Asia region - 3 teams
- North American region - 2 teams
- South American region - 2 teams
Originally, Valve announced that the prize pool for each major would be $1 million. Perhaps, the page of the announcement was deleted precisely because of it.
Recall that last year PGL and One Esports already planned to host a LAN tournament in Singapore. Still, due to the outbreak of the pandemic, ONE Esports Dota 2 Invitational Jakarta was canceled. And that event had a prize pool of $500,000.
