Public Beta of Steam China will be released on February 9
Very soon, on February 9, on the eve of the Chinese New Year, the Chinese beta version of the Steam client will appear in the public domain. In the future, it should completely replace the international version.
Over the years, Chinese users were able to use the Steam client's international version without any problems and play all the games they need. But due to the tightening of Chinese censorship laws, Chinese users will have to switch to the national gaming platform soon. Valve and Perfect World have been developing it for a long time.
It is known that the first games in the Steam China library will be Dota 2 and CS:GO, as these games have a low level of censorship. To achieve this, blood and other game elements prohibited in China were completely cut out in the Chinese Dota 2 client. This platform will work as a separate application from its international version, although libraries and gameplay should be moved.
It is unknown whether the beta release will affect the easy access of text and video information from the Chinese professional scene.
